This thesis proposes a microgrid protection framework to mitigate different protection issues such as dynamics in fault current magnitude, protection blinding, false tripping, islanding detection, dc-link protection, and reconnection issues in the renewable energy-based microgrid. All these issues were addressed by developing appropriate protection and control schemes to ensure seamless and reliable operation of the microgrid.
