This research aimed to examine the psychological functioning of siblings of people with mental illness. Siblings were found to experience distress, burden, and reduced wellbeing. Modifiable factors such as confusion about mental illness, limited communication, negative appraisals of caregiving, and early maladaptive schemas of Disconnection and Impaired Autonomy were identified.<p></p>
