Psychologists as Expert Witnesses in Australian Courts and Tribunals

thesis
posted on 2023-03-29, 05:24 authored by Elle Gianvanni
The objective of this PhD research was to understand how psychologists in Australia are chosen as experts and crucially, whether they possess specialised knowledge, how they assist the courts when testifying. This research identified a strong felt need by both key stakeholders—law and psychology—to improve standards of psychological expertise received by Australian courtrooms and highlighted a gap in communication between these two fields.
