Exercise can prevent and treat type 2 diabetes. Following exercise, this thesis found increases expression and activation of specific genes and proteins in human muscle that are involved in the regulation of insulin's action. This knowledge will assist in developing more effective therapies to treat and prevent type 2 diabetes.
