In general, little detail is known of the repair or tolerance of UV-induced DNA damage in plants, despite the economic and ecological importance of these organisms. This study expands our knowledge of these processes by describing the cloning and characterisation of five novel plant genes functioning in DNA damage repair or tolerance.
