Rundiang, Minangkabau Ritual Speech: Metaphor, Meaning and Cultural Cognition

This thesis investigates Rundiang, a form of ritual speech in Minangkabau society West Sumatra, Indonesia. The aims of the study are, firstly, to understand the nature of Rundiang and, secondly, to examine the use of metaphor, in terms of forms, contents (vehicle) and social meaning (tenor).
