SMARTer structures; balancing compromises in the pursuit of multifunctionality within modified CNRP thermoplastic composites

thesis
posted on 2024-10-31, 04:43 authored by Sithila Randhika Bandara Theminimulla
This thesis summarises research into attempts to establish multifunctional behaviour within thermoplastics through the introduction of carbon nanotubes, and the resulting characterisation of carbon nanoparticle reinforced polymer composites. It demonstrates the challenges of balancing the resultants properties of functionality optimisation to find a workable compromise, highlighting the need for changes in materials design philosophy.
