This thesis aims to design a novel biosensor based on an optical interferometry technique known as fringes of equal chromatic order (FECO).FECO has been demonstrated to be a versatile transduction method to detect optical thickness changes of thin gold films, the surface coverage of gold nanoparticles and DNA hybridization.
