Teachers working in multicultural classrooms represented non-prescriptive, learner- centred culturally responsive pedagogies that targeted shared goals of inclusion and academic achievement. Inconsistencies emerged in teachers' practices to show that the fact of their existence emerged as a significant influence on the responses teachers made to culturally and linguistically different students.
