This thesis used skiing in Australia as a case study to explore a more holistic, process-orientated approach to understanding heritage. It found that skiing provides a microcosm of many historical processes that have shaped modern Australia, but for skiers notions of community and sense-of-place are more meaningful to them particularly in response to the potential impact of climate change.
