Star Algae: Contemporary surrealist poetics: painting words around unconscious things

This thesis, comprised of exegesis and creative work, is an investigation of the Surrealist marvellous. The creative work is a contemporary piece of writing indebted, in purpose and elements of its construction, to the Surrealists. The exegesis explores the relationship between Surrealism and our evolving understanding of the unconscious and desire.
