In Part 1, importance of appetite control and non-adipose sources of leptin was established as being important for water conservation in desert-adapted mammals. In Part 2, the characterisation of fatty acid desaturase 2 in rainbow trout with Δ5 desaturase activity provided new knowledge on fatty acid biosynthesis in fish.
