Study of inheritance of alpaca fibre for fibre production improvement

First research to identify genes responsible for the suri alpaca trait and alpaca fibre diameter. Suri are the rarer, highly prized breed (silky locks of lustrous fleece) and fibre diameter is the primary factor influencing fibre quality. They are commercially important traits and a highly sought criterion for fleece quality.
