This thesis explores various electrochemical surface modification approaches to enhance the multifunctionality of carbon fibre with a special focus on mechanical properties, interfacial properties and energy storage capabilities. The research also demonstrates the use of surface functionalized carbon fibre in structural supercapacitor composites. These advancements have applications in aerospace, automotive, and renewable energy, contributing to environmental and socio-economic sustainability.
