This thesis provides a novel indicator to evaluate the spatiotemporal trends in the global food systems' ability to meet the world's dietary nutrient requirements. It shows that current food production and trade patterns are not optimal for adequate nutrition, but the nutrient gap could be closed while avoiding dangerous climate change.
