Existing methods cannot accurately mine temporal patterns from time series with diverse and complex fluctuations. This thesis provides a systematic framework of novel methods using flexible wave shapes on time series to discover temporal patterns, including the adaptive global shape patterns and the arbitrary-scale local shape patterns.
