The Authenticity of Aesthetic Experience in Sartrean Existentialism

This thesis suggests that neither Sartre nor his modern interpreters have been able to adequately locate existential authenticity. Instead of pursuing socio-politics in search of freedom, a return to Sartre's ontological and phenomenological origins is argued as necessary. The proposed alternative to this elusive realisation of authentic being is thus examined via aesthetic experience and art.<p></p>
