This thesis explored the relationship between early childhood teacher (ECT) agency and retention. A multiple case study was conducted with ECTs, service leaders, and policy agents working in Victoria, Australia. Findings suggest that agency contributes to ECTs' job satisfaction and supports their short- (12 month) and mid-term (5 year) retention.
