The Economic Burden of Pneumonia and Economic Evaluation of Case Management Strategies

This study synthesised economic evidence of pneumonia and conducted an economic evaluation of a new management day-care approach (DCA) compared to usual care for childhood severe pneumonia in Bangladesh. Findings suggest that the new treatment approach is clinically effective cost-saving. The policy implication is that DCA could improve efficiency and contribute to reduced inequity in healthcare utilisation through improving access to healthcare.
