This thesis investigates the experiences of professional theatricals who enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force (AIF). It chronicles their theatrical endeavours in the AIF's entertainment arm and post-war impact on the Australian theatre industry. The findings have empowered a rare insight into masculinity, sexuality and performance during the First World War.
