The effect of bowel preparation for colonoscopy on depression symptomatology and gut microbiota composition

This thesis identified changes in gut microbiota composition after bowel preparation and colonoscopy. In addition, this thesis identified changes in depression symptoms after bowel prep and colonoscopy, particularly for those with high BMI and IBS. This thesis also provides novel, foundational evidence for the potential role of the human appendix.<p></p>
