This thesis investigated eyewitness confidence and accuracy in simultaneous and sequential lineups. Simultaneous lineups were found to be superior to sequential lineups and eyewitness confidence was an unreliable indicator of eyewitness accuracy. Findings suggest that alternative theoretical explanations for the process underlying eyewitness identity judgments should be considered.
