This research investigated the potential for novel biomarkers in diabetic chronic kidney disease specifically within the areas of epigenetics, metabolomics and the gut microbiome. The findings pointed to distinct DNA methylation changes and significant metabolomic lipid profiles across all stages of diabetic chronic kidney disease while no significant difference was present in the gut microbiome between early and late diabetic chronic kidney disease.
