The pure father: reconciling individual autonomy and childhood dependence in Hollywood family films

Mapping discourses of responsibility and choice in Hollywood family films, this thesis demonstrates that conflict between intersecting expectations of fathering and of the neoliberal individual are resolved through a re-gendering of parenting as relationship.
