This thesis used meta-analytic, observational and interventional data to investigate ultra-processed food consumption in the prevalence, aetiology and treatment of depression. The collective findings pointed to greater ultra-processed food consumption as a risk factor for (or when reduced, a protective factor against) depression.<p></p>
