This thesis assesses the US democracy promotion in the Middle East, focusing on Tunisia in light of the Arab Spring. Fundamental inconsistencies in the US foreign policy and the utilised methods' ineffectiveness were identified as factors central to explaining the modest outcome. In contrast, Tunisian experience has the potential of charting new policy pathways for the US democracy promotion in the region.
