This study investigated variations in bacterial communities and their responses to constructed wetland hydrology and physicochemical changes. The findings showed that hydraulic retention time may play an important role in sustaining the impact of storm events on nutrient attenuation in wetlands, and that the microbial community, in terms of both abundance and composition, recovers slowly beyond the retention period.
