You will forgive me if I speak bluntly': Reading The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951) as a profoundly Christian subtextual film

thesis

This thesis investigated Robert Wise's SF classic The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951) to challenge claims that it was (a) an alien invasion film, (b) anti-atomic, and (c) anti-war. Instead, Klaatu was revealed as a Christ-figure and his modern-day intimate contacts as the subtextual equivalents of Jesus's ancient associates.
