COLOURS AVAILABLE.

APPEARANCE: Ceramic Wall Tile possesses a glazed face that is weather and fire resisting and hygienic; it does not absorb dirt or stains, food particles, etc.

MAINTENANCE: Apart from periodical washing down to remove surface dirt, maintenance is nil.

TRIM: Simple mouldings, sills, copings, etc., are available (see page 4). Effects other than moulded are possible by the use of colour.

STRUCTURAL REQUIREMENTS: When used on facades of buildings over one storey in height, provide horizontal recesses 4" wide x 1" deep at every third course (30J" centres) in the structural walls, as shelves to check settlement of the facing medium, the rebate to be sharp and unbroken at base. At distances

not exceeding 50 ft. in copings, set the vertical joint with an approved mastic as an expansion joint. Provide a similar horizontal bed joint at all floor levels or at a convenient level thereto. Mastic expansion bed joints to be the full depth of the tiles and the cement mortar bedding behind. Brick, concrete or stone backing will present an improved surface for adhesion if a slurry of cement and fine screenings (of creamy consistency) is applied just prior to fixing the tiles.

Whilst the procedures outlined in the previous and following paragraphs are generally in accordance with recommended practice, it is advisable to refer to our nearest branch office for guidance concerning any special requirements of local Building Codes. FIXING: Apply to backing by adhesion using cement mortar prepared in the proportions of one part of Portland Cement, i part of lime to three parts of clean sand. Soak the tiles in water for at least one hour and drench the wall face within not more than one hour before setting tiles. "Butter " the whole of the back of tile with mortar slightly in excess of volume required to bed tile free of voids. Beat tile back to a line, true up, and remove excess mortar forced to edges of tile in setting process. Use sufficient mortar to finish minimum thickness after excess is forced out, and tile is in position. Adopt a i" wide joint. Use small timber wedges as joint spacers and, after removal, point all joints with mortar, coloured if desired; a concave (recessed) tooled joint finish is recommended. Rake out the top of all weatherings at least -j" and point with an approved waterproof mastic putty. Support suspended soffits, etc., on close boarded timber falsework on "toms" until mortar set is complete and tiles secure.

NOTE: Rapid drying out, disturbance during setting and, when used on floors of swimming pools, premature traffic should be avoided.

CUTTING: When designing for Ceramic Tile, adopt the 10" x 10" module, plus joint to avoid cut tiles. Where cut tiles cannot be avoided, use a cold chisel and hammer to chip along the surface of the tile approximately a” from the line of the required finished cut and break along this edge. Then, with the chisel pointed away from the line of cut, carefully chip off the final Alternatively, if available, use a Black and Decker Portable Electric Power Saw, fitted with a special 7" carborundum grit cutting wheel. Make a cut approximately -4" in depth through the glazed surface and fracture along the line of cut with a hammer and chisel.

PACKING AND DESPATCH—WEIGHT: Ceramic Wall Tiles are packed for despatch in corrugated cardboard cartons, eight (8) tiles to each carton. The cartons weigh gross 65 lbs. and measure one cubic foot. DAMAGE: Responsibility is not accepted for blocks damaged or broken in transit.

IMPORTANT: Architects and builders contemplating the use of Ceramic Wall Tiles are requested to confer with us relative to their requirements.

Ceramic Wall Tile is an ideal facing medium for the walls and floors of swimming pools. It ensures greater structural grip than is the case with ordinary small thin wall tiles, as the clay body of the large 10" x 10" x 1" thick units possesses high porosity, which, when coupled with the roughened or "keyed" back of the tile and recommended j" jointing, affords excellent adhesion to the cement mortar and structural background. For this reason, Ceramic Wall Tile is superior to all others for trouble free facing of the floors as well as the walls of swimming pools.

The colourful glazed surface of Ceramic Wall Tiles is hygienic as it will not absorb dust or stains and is easy to keep clean and immaculate. Tiles of a darker glaze are used in bands on the floor to form swimming lanes.

FIXING AND STRUCTURAL REQUIREMENTS Refer pages 2 & 3.

Wunderlich Ceramic Glazed Scum Gutter, as illustrated, is available in either a green or a blue glaze. It is specially designed, and finished with a smooth glaze to facilitate cleaning and the carry-off of surplus water.
