This thesis describes cystic fibrosis in the United Arab Emirates and the Sultanate of Oman. It stresses the severe clinical disease present. Two mutations of the cystic fibrosis gene account for 95% of cases. The estimated birth frequency is almost one in five thousand births, The cultural, historical and geographic aspects associated with the disease are stressed.
