Empowerment in early childhood intervention : perspectives of parents of children with disabilities
Macvean, Michelle L. 2000, Empowerment in early childhood intervention : perspectives of parents of children with disabilities, Ph.D. thesis, Institute of Disability Studies, Deakin University.
An objective of early intervention is to empower parents of children with disabilities. This research involved two interviews with 37 families of children with disabilities in order to ascertain their perspectives of empowerment. The finding suggest that information, other families, decision-making, confidence, participation, and meeting family needs influence parents' empowerment.
