Investigative interviewing of children with intellectual disabilities
Agnew, Sarah Elizabeth. 2003, Investigative interviewing of children with intellectual disabilities, D.Psychology (Clinical) thesis, School of Psychology, Deakin University.
The thesis' research examined the effect of intellectual disability on children's recall of an event across different question types. Overall, it demonstrated that an open-ended questioning style maximises the accuracy of these children's accounts compared to age-matched peers. However, such questions are often under-utilised by police and caregivers in the field.
