Summary It is time for prose poetry to be more broadly recognised asan important form of poetry, and for it to be identified as a significant andgrowing part of Australian literature. We would like to make a claim for the significance of Australian prose poetry by presenting a representative and compelling selection from the prose poetry written by Australians since the 1970s—providing various historical examples as well as publishing a generous selection of twenty-first-century prose poems.
