Summary © 2020 IEEE. Distribution networks are subject to various faults and volatilities, including man-made faults and environmental disasters. Besides, perpetual load demand increase, inserting distributed generations (DGs), and networks interlinking not only complicated the network, but also increased the level of short circuit current. There are some methods in place to deal with this issue. Network restructuring, changing existing circuit breakers (CBs) with a higher rating one, and using fault current limiters (FCLs) are as proper approaches. In this paper, an optimal allocation of FCLs is proposed to mitigate the fault current into the permissible level. Non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm II (NSGA-II) is used to optimize the objectives function in MATLAB software. IEEE 34 node test feeder is used to check the performance of the proposed method.
