'Nature of Science' in undergraduate curriculum: A critical realist exploration
Yucel, Robyn 2021, 'Nature of Science' in undergraduate curriculum: A critical realist exploration, Ph.D. thesis, School of Life and Environmental Sciences, Deakin University.
This thesis uses critical realism to explore the 'Nature of Science' (NOS) in Australian undergraduate science curricula. When framed by critical realism, science academics demonstrated coherent and sophisticated science worldview commitments to ontological realism and epistemological fallibilism. A structural logic of protection and a cultural logic of opportunity were found to condition academic agency in changing the curriculum to include NOS.
